AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy --
This year’s tax season has officially begun and the Aviano Legal Office is here to help.

For many people, filing taxes can be stressful and time-consuming; even more so for first-time tax payers or those still relatively new to the process. That’s where the Legal Office Tax Center comes into play and aims to help alleviate some of that stress.

“The tax center is open to single service members without dependents in the ranks of E-1 through E-4 and O-1 through O-2 with simple taxes,” said Air Force Staff Sgt. Artis Edmondson, 31st Fighter Wing general law paralegal. “Simple taxes means the member owns no property or stocks, and has no foreign income.”

The tax center is located in the lobby of the legal office in building 1403 on Area F, and offers self-help kiosks utilizing Military OneSource MilTax to enable members to file their taxes electronically. MilTax is a self-paced e-filing tax software designed to address situations specific to the military.

A legal office representative will be standing by to assist with any questions regarding the program and general questions about filing, Edmondson explained.

“The kiosks are only available by appointment on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.,” Edmondson said. “Each appointment is one hour long and can be scheduled by calling 632-7843 or by stopping by the legal office.”

The tax center will remain open through April 19, 2019.
