    Airmen and U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons assigned to the 31st Fighter Wing, Aviano Air Base, Italy, and Airmen assigned to the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing, 86th Airlift Wing, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, participated in Thracian Viper 20, a multilateral training exercise with the Bulgarian air force at Graf Ignatievo Air Base, Bulgaria, Sept. 21 to 25, 2020.
  • 116th, 128th ACS augment 606th ACS for Astral Knight 20

    The 116th Air Control Squadron assigned to Camp Rilea Armed Forces Training Center, Oregon, and the 128th ACS out of Volk Field Air National Guard Base, Wisconsin, supplied personnel to the 606th ACS, assigned to Aviano Air Base, Italy, during exercise Astral Knight 20.
  • 606th ACS unleashes TORCC at Astral Knight 20

    The 606th Air Control Squadron, call sign “Primo,” is the U.S. Air Force’s only Control and Reporting Center outside the continental United States. Primo’s mission is mobile command and control. The squadron can load equipment worth millions of dollars onto trucks and convoy nearly anywhere in Europe from its home station at Aviano Air Base, Italy.
  • 606th ACS suits up for AK 20 in Poland

    Exercise Astral Knight kicked off in Poland Sept. 21, 2020, and featured participants from several European partners and U.S. service branches. The exercise aims to enhance the command and control integration, coordination and interoperability of air, land and sea capabilities and overlapping operations into the integrated air and missile defense enterprise in Europe.

    On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was killed while being arrested outside a shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Video of the incident quickly spread online, igniting social outcry and protests across the United States and the world. The video was viewed by millions of people around the globe, including those right here at Aviano Air Base.
  • 555th FS participates in Point Blank 20-4 exercise

    The 555th Fighter Squadron participated in exercise Point Blank 20-4 over the North Sea, September 10, 2020. Point Blank 20-4 is a recurring large force exercise designed to increase tactical proficiency between multiple forces.
  • USAFE Controller of the Year earns FAM flight

    U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Devon Kercher, assigned to the 31st Operations Support Squadron, was not only recently recognized as the 2019 U.S. Air Forces in Europe Air Traffic Controller of the Year, but he was also able to fly in one of the U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons he works with on a daily basis.
