    Each individual has a part to play in the 31st Fighter Wing’s vision of maintaining an agile and ready force while maintaining trust as a NATO ally. The 555th Fighter Squadron and 555th Aircraft Maintenance Unit are operating as an important part of NATO’s around-the-clock mission.

  • 31 FW, 48 FW conduct live fire air-to-air training employment

    For the first time in 14 years, the 31st Fighter Wing had the opportunity to conduct F-16C Fighting Falcon air-to-air live fire training employment within the United States Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa (USAFE) area of responsibility, July 9-16, 2021.

    To be a crew chief requires an individual to be resilient and ready for anything thrown their way. Crew chiefs work tireless hours in the blazing sun, pouring rain, or numbing cold to get their aircraft in the air and complete the mission.

  • Rain or shine, fuel on time

    The 31st Fighter Wing participated in surge flying throughout the week. Surge flying is a period of increased operations for those working on the flightline as sorties increase to provide ample training opportunities to pilots.

  • Aviano Elephant Walk

    The 31st Fighter Wing completed the first Elephant Walk in Aviano history, June 1, 2020 at Aviano Air Base, Italy. Launching 23 F-16s one right after the other, with six minutes of uninterrupted after burner—a stirring sight and an important first.
