Conducting internal information programs is the primary means Air Force leaders use to communicate with Airmen and their families. In the public affairs arena, Airmen are active-duty and retired, officer and enlisted, Guard and Reserve, civilian and contract employees.

The main purpose of conducting internal information programs is to link Airmen and their leaders. Timely, accurate, relevant information is a force multiplier that enhances Airman morale and readiness. A public affairs practitioner must have the knowledge and skills to conduct internal information programs at home and while deployed as an expeditionary public affairs force.
tabThe COMPASS -- Your Guide to Italy and Beyond
The Compass is a travel publication used to keep the military and civilian employees and their families in-tune with what's happening, both on and off base during their tours of duty in Italy while stationed at Aviano Air Base.

Deadline info: The deadline for submitting information is close of business Thursday one week prior to publication. For more information, visit the Contact Us page and select "Internal Information." Faxed articles will not be accepted. The public affairs office is located in Bldg. 1360, Rm. 19. The Compass staff can be reached at 632-6897/-6899 or 0434-30-6897/-6899.

The Compass is published twice monthly on the first and third Friday by a private firm in no way connected with the U.S. Air Force, under exclusive written contract with the 31st Fighter Wing. To download previous issues of the Compass, click here.
tabOnline News Submissions
Do you have a news tip? While articles can be written after the fact, the best practice is to contact the public affairs office before an event takes place for planning purposes of potential supporting imagery and video to accompany the article.

While no idea is a bad idea per say, public affairs practioners cannot guarantee every idea that is presented will be covered with an article, imagery or video. The bottom line is public affairs practioners can't document individual, organizational, or wing achievements if they don't know what's going on.  Go ahead, make the call.  You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

To contact the public affairs office about the latest breaking news in your organization, you can call 632-6897/-6899 or 0434-30-6897/-6899 as well as send an e-mail to 31FW.panews@aviano.af.mil with as much information as possible and point of contact information.

Locally written articles are sometimes forward to USAFE and 3rd Air Force public affairs, Air Force Link, European Stars & Stripes, and various other U.S. and Italian media outlets for their consideration.
tabCommunity Event Submissions
At Aviano Air Base, Italy, the public affairs office posts information about base-wide public events, meetings, programs, etc... to the Community Briefs section of this site every day.
