MISSION
The 31st Aerospace Medicine Squadron optimizes human performance, ensuring seamless employment of the 31st Medical Group's health initiatives in support of U.S. and NATO objectives throughout the Southern Region. The squadron integrates population-based preventive medicine services and guidance to enable peak mission readiness and sustained performance. In addition, it provides safety and operational medicine expertise, including proactive intervention, risk communication, and behavior modification for 9,200 beneficiaries.

ORGANIZATION
The 31st Aerospace Medicine Squadron consists of six flights, including Public Health, Optometry, Flight Medicine, Aerospace Physiology, Bioenvironmental Engineering and Health Promotion. The 31st Aerospace Medicine Squadron provides care for flyers and their families. Additionally, it runs the occupational health, fitness, tobacco cessation, deployment, industrial hygiene and optometry programs for the entire wing.

HISTORY
The 31st Aerospace Medicine Squadron was activated in December 1997. Since its inception, it has opened both a state-of-the-art health and wellness center and a new flight medicine clinic in Area F. The 31st Aerospace Medicine Squadron was awarded the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Commander In Chief's Installation Excellence Award for Special Recognition in both 2007 and 2008. In 2008, the squadron was also recognized with the U.S. Air Force Team Aerospace Award.
