Americans, Italians unite to fight against cancer
Volunteers walk through the rain during Aviano’s third annual Relay for Life event April 27 at Aviano Air Base, Italy. The 24-hour event raised $30,000 for the American Cancer Society’s search for a cure. This year’s Relay raised the most of any year so far at Aviano despite rain and thunderstorms that caused power failures and generator outages during the event. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Americans, Italians unite to fight against cancer
“My reason to Relay” frames lay on a table at the Aviano 5/6 booth during a Relay for Life event April 27 at Aviano Air Base, Italy. While a Relay for Life may seem like a somber event, its true purpose is to celebrate the triumph of survivors and the lives of those lost. Over the last 28 years, it has developed into a fun event that brings communities together to fight against a common enemy. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Katherine Tereyama)

A simple request
Chief Master Sgt. Jeffrey Craver, 31st Fighter Wing command chief, jokes around with his daughter on the porch of his house. For 18 years, his daughter has associated the military uniform with that of safety, security, dignity, trust and respect. However, with more than 700 sexual assaults reported across the Air Force in 2012, the uniform can be a fearful reminder that their brothers or sisters in arms assaulted them. (Courtesy Photo)
