Organizations and leadership within the 31st Fighter Wing have a variety of programs through which they highlight base personnel for their outstanding contributions to the mission. This page features three of those programs including Aviano's Finest (provided through base leadership), the Chiefs' Choice Awards (provided by the Aviano Chiefs' Group), and the Diamond Sharp Awards (provided by the Aviano First Sergeants' Council).
Aviano's Finest
Aviano's Finest
Highlighting base personnel for the outstanding work they do is extremely important. The 31st Fighter Wing already highlights Airmen and civilian employees with the wing quarterly and annual recognition programs. The Aviano's Finest not only gives base leadership another opportunity to cast the spotlight on their personnel for their positive impact, professionalism and commitment to the mission, it gives readers an opportunity to learn more about the people assigned to the wing.
Aviano Chiefs' Choice Award Program The Aviano Chiefs' Group recognizes outstanding enlisted members of the 31st Fighter Wing and associate units on a monthly basis. The purpose of the program is to publicly recognize those individuals in the grade of technical sergeant and below who clearly exceed Air Force standards in the areas of dress and appearance, bearing, and exceptional behavior in performance of their duty activities and in relationships with others.
Aviano Diamond Sharp Award The Diamond Sharp Award is designed to recognize Aviano's best. Those Airmen who distinguished themselves through outstanding professionalism, impeccable appearance and a "can do" attitude. There is no preparation required to earn the award, one must only be noticed by their first sergeants as being among the best and brightest performers. This award also recognizes the "un-sung" hero -- Airmen who always go above an beyond the call of duty even if they do not get recognized. Members must epitomize service before self by working until the job is done and taking pride in their work. These Airmen strive for excellence both on and off duty, in the community and their personal lives.
