COLONEL JEFFREY S. FEWELL

Col Jeffrey S. Fewell is the Commander, 31st Medical Group, Aviano Air Base, Italy. He is responsible for four squadrons, providing a full spectrum of healthcare operations, supporting a population of approximately 8,400 beneficiaries, including 1,300 Personal Reliability Program, Arming Use of Force, and Fly Airmen; he also directly supports three Geographically Separated Units and their 700 military members and families. Col Fewell coordinates with Host Nation, Department of Defense, and CONUS resources to maintain a comprehensive referral network for specialty services, providing medical support optimizing human performance in support of United States and North Atlantic Treaty Organization objectives in the Southern European region. In addition, he employs population-based preventive services and key guidance to enable medical combat readiness for 3,700 active duty members.

 Col Fewell received a direct commission into the Medical Service Corps and graduated from Commissioned Officer Training School in 2001. He has held a wide variety of positions at the clinic, hospital, Major Command, Headquarters Air Force and Office of the Secretary of Defense levels and is a two-time graduated squadron commander. Col Fewell has served as the Administrator of two ambulatory clinics and has in-depth experience in resource management, programming, group practice management, and TRICARE operations. He also has deployment experience as the Medical Operations Officer, Special Operations Command Central Forward Headquarters, Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar and is board certified in Healthcare Management by the American College of Healthcare Executives.
