AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy --

This year’s tax season has officially begun and the Aviano Legal Office is here to help.

For many people, filing taxes can be stressful and time-consuming; even more so for first-time tax filers or those still relatively new to the process. The legal office aims to help alleviate some of that stress and will open their tax center from 11 Feb. to 15 April, 2020.

“Single military members in the grades of O-1 to O-2 and E-1 to E-4, as well as spouses of deployed members will be able to schedule appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays to use self-help kiosks,” said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Donald Schrock, 31st Fighter Wing general law paralegal. “Members will be able to complete their taxes using H&R Block’s free Tax Prep and Filing Software through Military OneSource.”

The tax center is located in the legal office in building 1403 on Area F and appointments can be made by calling 0434-30-7843 or DSN 314-632-8901.

Legal representatives will be available to assist members in completing their taxes in person and over the phone.

Members will need to bring the following to their appointment:

  • W-2
  • Previous year’s tax return (not required for members who are filing taxes for the first time)
  • Valid photo I.D.
  • Social Security Card
  • Proof of bank account routing number and account number for direct deposit, such as a blank check
  • Power of Attorney IRS form 2848 if completing a spouses taxes
  • Any other tax documents they think may be necessary
