  • Madonna Di Loreto visits Aviano

    Declared by Pope Benedict XV as the Patroness of Aeronauts in 1920, a Madonna Di Loreto statue is on a pilgrimage around the country in celebration of the centenary. As she makes her way around the country, the Madonna is visiting each Italian air force base, and arrived at Aviano Air Base on Sept. 23, 2020.

    In preparation for the Joint Airborne Air Transportability training quickly approaching, Tech. Sgt. Robert, a pararescue team leader from the 57th Rescue Squadron, performed jump training to stay current on his training.
  • The Trial Must Go On: an NCO's Dedication

    U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Keifer Thomas, a confinement NCO from the 31st Security Forces Squadron, regularly escorts defendants from Aviano Air Base to Sembach Kaserne, a base in Germany, for pre-trial confinement. Occasionally, however, confinement NCOs are asked to escort defendants much farther- in this instance, Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado.
  • New Two Wheel Initiative for Dorm Airmen

    Aviano dorm residents without a way of traveling are now able to rent a bike for free through dorm management. This program, started by Staff Sgt. Bojorquez, an Airman dorm leader with the 31st Civil Engineer Squadron, offers Airmen without vehicles a method of traveling to work and during their free time.
  • Aviano Hosts Community Health Care Services Forum

    The 31st Medical Group held a Community Health Care Services Forum on July 8 at the Community Center on Area 1. Similar to a town hall the purpose of the event is to come together to understand concerns and develop potential solutions as a community. The medical group also informed those in attendance on improvements they have made and the plans they have for the future.
  • Joint International Non Commissioned Officer Development Course

    Aviano Air Base held a Joint International Non Commissioned Officer Development Course from May 15-17, 2019. It was a three-day course consisting of classes and workshops as well as a combat challenge. JINDC is designed to integrate the U.S. Air Force, Army, and Italian Air Force service members to grow skills in teamwork and communication. This is the second year the course has been held.
  • Safe Cycling: Knowing How to Ride in Italy

    Bicycling is a healthy alternative to commuting by car. It provides an aerobic workout that builds muscle. Though being on two wheels does carry some risks.
