Disinfection byproducts above drinking water standards

AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy --

The 31st Aerospace Medicine Squadron Bioenvironmental Engineering flight recently released a Memorandum for Record concerning disinfection byproducts above drinking water standards.

This report informs the public that after test results received on 19 September 2019 the water system serving Area C exceeded the standard, or maximum contaminant level for total trihalomethanes. The MFR has information on the contaminant level, cause of contamination, health concerns and corrective solutions.

At this time, no alternative source of water is necessary. However, if you have any specific health concerns, consult your doctor.

This is not an emergency. If it had been, you would have been notified immediately. Some people who drink water containing TTHM in excess of the MCL over many years may experience problems with their liver, kidneys, or central nervous system, and may have an increased risk of getting cancer.
