Colonel STEPHEN G. ANDERSON

Colonel Stephen G. Anderson is the Commander, 31st Mission Support Group, Aviano Air Base, Italy. He commands nearly 2,300 total force personnel across seven squadrons and two detachments, providing critical base and combat support functions to include engineering, fire and emergency management, communications, contracting, logistical planning, transportation, quality of life programs, and security for a total base population of 10,000. Included are six squadrons assigned to Aviano and three Geographically Separated Units, including units at Larissa AB, Greece, Papa Air Base, Hungary, and Naval Station Sigonella, Italy with an infrastructure portfolio valued at over $4 billion in support of the 31st Fighter Wing’s eight operational squadrons.

Colonel Anderson entered the Air Force in 2001, receiving his commission from the Officer Training School. He is a career Force Support Officer and has served in a variety of positions at Wing, Major Command, Forward Operating Agency, Air Staff, and Combatant Command levels. He commanded the 355th Force Support Squadron at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. Additionally, Colonel Anderson served a career broadening tour as an instructor at the Air Force Officer Training School in Montgomery, AL.

Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Anderson was the Chief, USAF Selection Board Secretariat, Air Force Personnel Center at Joint-Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas.
