31st Maintenance Group

MISSION

The 31st Maintenance Group provides peacetime and combat maintenance and munitions control, and executive support for the 31st Fighter Wing, geographically separated units under the command and control of the wing, and units gained during advanced stages of readiness. The 31st MXG also responds to humanitarian and contingency logistics support requirements as directed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff through Headquarters U.S. Air Forces Europe to locations in Europe, Africa, and Southwest Asia.

HISTORY
The 31st Maintenance Group was originally established as the 31st Maintenance and Supply Group on Nov. 6, 1947. The group was located at Turner Field, Ga., from Nov. 20, 1947 through Feb. 10, 1951 when it was inactivated. The Group was reactivated at Turner Field, Ga., from Feb. 14 through June 16, 1952, when it was again inactivated.

The 31st Maintenance and Supply Group was reestablished and redesignated the 31st Logistics Group on Oct. 28, 1991 at Homestead AFB, Fla., where it was until April 1, 1994. The 31st Maintenance Group then moved to its current home at Aviano Air Base, Italy.

The 31st MXG continues to live up to its vision of the "U.S. Air Force's best logisticians, providing for world-wide around-the-clock precision air power" by providing top-notch support for Operations such as, Deny Flight, Deliberate Guard, Deliberate Force, Deliberate Forge, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. The professionals of the 31st MXG continue to support the 31st Fighter Wing in conducting air combat and combat support throughout the Southern Region.
