Flight of a lifetime
Passengers disembark the tanker after an incentive flight Monday. The tanker is from the 134th Air Refueling Wing, an Air National Guard unit in Tennessee. The KC-135 Stratotanker’s primary mission is air refueling. The aircraft can hold 200,000 pounds of fuel and carry 83,000 pounds of cargo. During inflight refueling, one crewmember, known as the boom operator, is stationed in the rear of the plane and controls the boom, which is what fuel is pumped from.
