The Skocjan caves in Slovenia are under the protection of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as a world heritage site. Tourists can visit the caverns with a guide throughout September and into October. Inside the cavern, tourists are not allowed to touch or photograp any of the formations.
