Kuk Sool Won tournament

From left to right: Roberto Beraldi, Ryan Finnerty, Master Suh, Dylan Mejia and George Mejia earned 14 medals in the 2009 European Kuk Sool Won Tournament on May 30. The Aviano competitors earned medals in the weapons, empty hand forms, board breaking and sparring categories. An estimated 600 people competed in the annual competition from about 62 schools within the United Kingdom, Germany, Holland, Spain and Italy. Aviano Kuk Sool Won adult and children participants compete in about three tournaments a year. KSW classes are part of 31st Force Support Squadron Group Study, and participants practice Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Elementary School gym. Interested Aviano members can contact the Community Center at 632-5993/5479 for free trial classes. Aviano KSW currently has 45 students at two locations, located on base and in Porcia, Italy.
