Close Air Support
An F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot taxies to the flightline for takeoff during a close air support training exercise, Dec. 17, 2013, at Aviano Air Base, Italy. During the exercise, Aviano pilots fly as low as 1,000 feet and communicate with joint terminal attack controllers on the ground, who call in the simulated air strikes. The exercise requires coordination and corporation with the 31st Security Forces Squadron, 31st Maintenance Squadron and the 31st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.
