Winter driving safety
An Airman checks a vehicle tire’s tread using the top of Abraham Lincoln’s head on a penny to ensure the tire meets proper tread requirements, Nov. 26, 2013, at Aviano Air Base, Italy. As of Nov. 15, 2013, while driving in Italy, vehicles are required to have snow chains if the vehicle’s tires are not identified with an “M+S”. Before driving outside of Italy, make sure to check winter driving laws in the countries you plan to visit. A good resource for information is www.travel.state.gov.
