Prisoners of war/Missing in action

Members from the honor guard place the five services’ caps on a table to represent the Prisoners of war/Missing in action during a ceremony, Oct. 3, 2013, at Aviano Air Base, Italy. A slice of lemon on a bread plate is to remind us the bitter fate of those captured and missing in a foreign land. A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears of those missing and their families who seek answers. A table and chair are used as a symbol for the missing, thus reserving a chair in hopes of their return.
