U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Justin Varrato, 31st Maintenance Squadron Nondestructive Inspection lab technician and Polish air force Starszy Kapral (Lance Corporal) Maizena Olejniczak, NDI lab technician, prepare an aircraft wheel part for inspection with fluorescent penetrant at Lask Air Base, Poland, Sept. 30, 2014. The penetrant is used to identify cracks in metal to ensure the integrity of the part. The seven F-16 Fighting Falcons and approximately 150 support personnel from the 31st Fighter Wing at Aviano Air Base, Italy, are supporting Aviation Detachment rotation 14-4 and NATO training efforts. For the last three weeks, the Airmen with the 31st FW and the Polish air force have worked and trained closely together, enhancing U.S. Air Forces in Europe interoperability and building lasting partnerships.
