Blown away

Growing up in one of the most dangerous cities in America, U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Jonathan Thompson wasn’t expected to live until 18, but a hurricane changed his life forever. Thompson was raised and surrounded by tumultuous violence, in the St. Thomas projects of New Orleans. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina forced his family and him to relocate to Killeen, Texas, and start a new life. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Ryan Conroy/Released)
