Local Legend

This month’s Local Legend is Mario Delia, a kennel attendant and maintenance supervisor for the 31st Security Forces Squadron, military working dog unit (MWD). Mario has lived in Aviano his entire life, and has been a part of Team Aviano for 46 years! As part of his job, Mario ensures every MWD is taken care of. He ensures all nutritional requirements are in accordance with what the veterinarians prescribe, and also administers medicine for the MWDs. Through all his hard work and dedication, Mario recently won the 31st SFS Civilian I Category 2020. When he isn’t at work, Mario enjoys mountain biking. He also enjoys traveling, and if he could travel anywhere in the world, he would travel to Portugal or the United States. Mario enjoys the city and art most while living in Italy, and his favorite place to visit in Italy is Rome. He also enjoys all types of food, but he enjoys it more when they are freshly cooked. Mario’s best piece of advice for newcomers is “Enjoy Italy.” It’s truly wonderful to have you on Team Aviano, Mario. Thank you for everything you do!
