AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy. -- 31st Force Support Squadron Airmen replaced broken equipment and deep cleaned the Wyvern and Dragon Fitness Centers at Aviano Air Base, Italy, March 4 – 14, 2019.
“Once you have a piece of equipment that you can’t fix anymore, it becomes a safety hazard.” said Staff Sgt. KaeAnne Snow, 31st FSS fitness operations manager. “We’re doing this because we want to make sure that our patrons get better equipment for their safety, health and morale.”
Cardio equipment was replaced first. The new equipment included treadmills, spin bikes, sit-up bikes and recumbent bikes.
The replacements were planned since the beginning of 2019 as a response to the Wyvern community’s feedback.
Snow said that the Wyvern Fitness Center had to be completely closed because it needed the most care.
It was all hands on deck by the fitness center Airmen to clean and move equipment efficiently.
“We are trying to replace everything,” said Snow. “Right now, we are only replacing the treadmills and bikes because they are the ones that need the most attention.”
Tech. Sgt. Mervin Peters, 31st FSS fitness section chief, said that they’ll have 100 percent of equipment ready to provide warfighters with the capabilities they need to stay physically fit, relieve stress, pass their fitness tests and stay mission ready.
