I plan and provide quality nursing care on a 12 bed multiservice/newborn nursery/three bed labor and delivery unit in support of the 31st Fighter Wing's flying mission. I perform emergency neonatal resuscitation procedures and operate specialized equipment worth $670K. I have facilitated transports of critical patients to tertiary care facilities for higher level of care. In addition, I have performed the duties of the unit shift team leader. What's one thing you've learned about Italy's history, people and culture? Italians are family oriented, love children, and truly enjoy each other's company. The country is full of historical sites and each region has a wine or food item that it is known for. What's one advantage of being stationed overseas? My family and I have the unique opportunity to see parts of the world that I could never afford or have time to do while stationed in the States. The greatest part is watching my children actually see the things that they have read about in books. What's your favorite European destination and why? I thoroughly enjoyed London. It was so refreshing to be able to communicate without looking in a book for a change. The weather was great and navigating to all the major sights was very easy.
