Aviano hosts Super Cycling Weekend

AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy --  Team Aviano welcomed American cyclists from bases throughout Europe for the 2011 Aviano Super Cycling Weekend April 15-16.

The weekend consisted the U.S. Force Europe Mountain Bike Series April 16 at Aviano, Italy and the U.S. Forces Road Cycling Series April 17 in Piancavallo, Italy.

The following are the top male and female finishers for the mountain bike and road cycling series:

--Women's 13K mountain bike race: Angelica Rodriguez, Illesheim, Germany, 1:32:40
--Men's 25K mountain bike race: Adam Leigland, Aviano, 1:37:11
--Women's 23.4K road bike race: Antoaneta Fitzpatrick, Aviano, 1:08:10
--Men's 46.8K road bike race: Max Fryar, Naples, 1:43:53

"The race was absolutely great and very challenging," said Rodriguez. "I would recommend these races to anyone. I plan on bringing the good work back to Germany and letting other cyclists know what a great event this is."
