Beginning Oct. 4, Aviano Airmen can contribute to the charity of their choice during the largest and most successful workplace fundraising model in the world, the 2010 Combined Federal Campaign.

The CFC is an annual charity drive established in 1961 by an executive order signed by President John F. Kennedy and is run by federal volunteers worldwide with nearly four million federal employees and military personnel able to contribute to charities of their choice. More than 2,300 local, national and international charities are available this year, approximately 15.6 million was raised last year by overseas personnel alone.

"The CFC offers thousands of charities to choose from this year, ranging from disease awareness and research, youth organizations, religious charities, human rights, animal rights and protection, education, health and military," said 1st Lt. Jesse Stroh, Aviano CFC chairman. "The bottom line is that the CFC offers all participants an opportunity to contribute to a cause they believe in and support."

All five overseas combatant commands will be participating in CFC overseas. During the campaign season uniformed and civilian personnel can contribute to help communities around the world. CFC-O recently announced a $15.7 million campaign goal.

Each servicemember and Department of Defense civilian employee assigned to the overseas commands will receive a copy of the 2010 CFC-O charity listing and a 2010 CFC-O pledge card from their CFC-O key worker. For more information or to receive CFC charity listing and pledge card, contact a unit CFC-O representative or Lieutenant Stroh at DSN 632-2474.
