Have a ball, at the ball

AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy - --  Team Aviano will host an Air Force Ball beginning 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at La Bella Vista Club to celebrate the service's 63rd anniversary.

This year's theme is "Celebrating Partnership: Passato e Presente," and features guest speaker Lt. Gen. Frank Gorenc, 3rd Air Force commander.

"Recognizing and celebrating our milestones is an important part of any Air Force ball," said 2nd Lt. Meyliana Hamdani, Aviano's 63rd Air Force Ball committee president. "We are in a unique position to honor a very important milestone - a warm and longstanding friendship with our Italian hosts."

The cost for pay grades E-6 and below, their guests or civilian equivalent is $5 for club members and $7 for non-club members. The cost for pay grades E-7 and above, their guests or civilian equivalent is $10 for club members and $12 for non-club members. Local nationals with access to the base are welcome at the same prices for equivalent pay grades.

Military members must wear mess dress or semi-formal. Civilian dress is formal.

Food and drinks will be served in a buffet format to allow the evening to flow as smoothly as possible. The selection will include something to satisfy anyone's taste according to Lieutenant Hamdani.

"We are certain that Team Aviano will not be disappointed," she said. "We have worked hard this year to ensure affordable ticket prices, a first-class guest speaker, delicious food, as well as a fun and casual atmosphere that is more conducive to socializing than ever before."
