How do you support the 31st Fighter Wing mission? It is my responsibility to make sure our resources are used to the greatest benefit to the 31st Maintenance Operations Squadron, 31st Maintenance Group, 31st Fighter Wing as well as the U.S. government as a whole. Not only do I have to make sure that they are used appropriately, but make sure these resources are executed in a timely fashion, which at times takes great coordination between our members, the 31st Comptroller Squadron and the 31st Contracting Squadron. It is these executions that enable our members to effectively do their job each day, which allows the jets to keep flying.

What's one thing you've learned about Italy's history, people and culture?
One thing I have learned about Italy's culture is there will always be surprises no matter how long I stay here. I feel like every day in Italy, I discover something new. Although I have been here for two years I discovered just the other day, a 24-hour soccer and rugby tournament that goes on in my town every year. It was so much fun to see some local and other teams from all over compete in games happening four at a time in short 15 minute games, all night. It was quite a spectacle that I look forward to seeing again next year.
 
What's one advantage of being stationed overseas?
One of the best things about being overseas is the ease of access to other cultures. It is so convenient to walk into the center of my town each evening and see all the people out in the square enjoying these great summer nights. I am able to experience true Italian culture every day after just a short walk and I know that is something that I will especially miss when I have to leave.

What's your favorite European destination and why?
My favorite European destination has to be the town of Rab in Croatia. It is located on a very small island off the coast of Croatia by the same name, but has a very beautiful town center with high white walls, a dark forest, and a small version of the Spanish Steps of Rome. The town has so many great influences from Italian, Croatian and Austrian culture. In addition, as it is a port town, you can spend all day watching the ships come in or have an amazing seafood meal right on the harbor.

Why I nominated Mr. Chiverton as one of Aviano's finest? Evan is pulling double duty as the 31st MXG and 31st MOS Resource Advisor. He forged an agreement with the 31st Communications Squadron to provide the 31st MXG with 61 newly configured computers as part of their tech refresh. He also assisted travelers with 107 DTS actions, enabling a Government Travel Card delinquency rate of zero percent for three months straight.
