A ribbon cutting ceremony was held April 23 at the newly renovated Italian Air Force headquarters building in Area F. The building renovation began in 2005 and took four years to complete. The newly renovated building now houses smaller units previously located in different buildings.

After the ceremony, the Italian aerobatic team, Frecce Tricolori, performed a practice run at Aviano. It is a tradition for the aerobatic team to conclude their training here at Aviano the Friday prior to the beginning of the performance season. This allows them to practice with different reference points then what they are used to. The practice occurred directly over the runway in Area F and was viewable by all Aviano residents.
