Aviano's Finest - Master Sergeant-Captain Category Published Feb. 23, 2010 AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy -- Name: Capt. Christina DaLuz Unit: 31st Aerospace Medicine Squadron Duty Title: Human Performance Training Flight Commander Hometown City, State: San Antonio, Texas How do you support the 31st Fighter Wing mission? The Human Performance Training Flight (HPTF) works to provide education and training to enhance warfighter effectiveness. What does that mean? We provide educational briefings to shift-workers and non shift-workers on minimizing fatigue, circadian rhythm disruption due to crossing many time zones in a short period of time, stress management strategies, diet and exercise information, crew resource management for medical personnel. We also provide a variety of information and training to the pilots of the 510th and 555th Fighter Squadrons, including spatial disorientation, night vision goggles, and Gz awareness to name a few. We are here to support all military and civilian personnel on Aviano Air Base so we can fulfill our mission: deliver combat power and support across the globe to achieve US and NATO objectives. What's one thing you've learned about Italy's history, people and culture? The Italian people enjoy life; they take time to make personal connections, enjoy food, drink and spending time with family and friends. What's one advantage of being stationed overseas? Being anywhere overseas presents many unique opportunities, and it's always working with and getting to know the people and the culture of the country that you are in. Inevitably when working with others we can always learn new things. What's your favorite European destination and why? It is impossible to choose only one favorite European destination when there are so many amazing outdoor sporting opportunities in and around Italy; Cinque Terre is quite phenomenal if you hike between the five cities.
