CRIME PREVENTION TIP OF THE WEEK:
Here at Aviano, Security Forces typically receives numerous reports of lost personal documents each week. These reports include but are not limited to missing ID cards, passports, bank cards, social security cards, insurance information, and other valuable documentation. This is problematic as personal information contained within these documents has the ability to threaten individual safety and security. Additionally, valuable time and resources are utilized in order to replace them.

With this said, it becomes extremely beneficial to take every possible action to minimize the consequences and effects of lost documents. Making photocopies of your personal information makes it possible to expedite the replacement of a document as initial ID numbers and dates are already on hand. Soft or hard copies of documents can be kept in a variety of ways that are convenient to the owner. CDs, thumb drives and other portable digital storage devices serve as several options. Once you notice an important document is lost or missing, resort to the copies maintained to notify the appropriate individuals immediately. This will help in preventing other unauthorized individuals from being able to use your information.
