Aviano Air Base to hold memorial service for AFN broadcaster

A memorial service for Airman 1st Class Lauren Lagudi, a broadcaster at the American Forces Network here is 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at the base theater.

The service is open to base personnel. All attendees should be seated by 2:45 p.m.

"I am deeply saddened by the loss of our Airman. Lauren will be highly missed," said Brig. Gen. C.Q. Brown Jr., 31st Fighter Wing commander. "The 31st Fighter Wing will work with her family and others affected by this loss to provide the support and assistance they need. We ask that you respect her family's privacy and allow the investigation to be completed without speculating on the cause of death."

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations and Pordenone officials confirmed the identity of a body found near the Pordenone train station Oct. 20 to be that of Airman Lagudi following a missing person report filed Oct. 19. The train station is approximately 10 miles from the base.

An investigation into the facts and circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing and is being conducted jointly by the local AFOSI detachment here and Pordenone officials. Anyone with any facts pertaining to this case should contact the local AFOSI detachment or 31st Security Forces Squadron law enforcement desk.
