How do you support the 31st Fighter Wing mission? By providing preventive medicine support (testing the water and air for contaminants, bacteria and chemicals) to ensure to personnel are fit to fight and can support the flying mission. I also aid in emergency response by providing health risk assessments and personnel protective actions - protecting people and the environment. What's one thing you've learned about Italy's history, people and culture? I can see from the ruins, structures and buildings from thousands of years ago, that Italy has influence that is still felt throughout the world. What's one advantage of being stationed overseas? Being able to experience new and different cultures. What's your favorite European destination and why? My favorite European destination is Florence because there is so much to see and do ... tons of art, architecture and people. It's more of big city, but with lots of history. Why I nominated Airman Calvillo as one of Aviano's Finest? Airman Calvillo has been here seven months, and he's already nearing completion of 6 of 6 volumes of his career development course with flying colors. He also performs operation checks on $400,000 worth of equipment to ensure Bio is mission ready. He personally conducts numerous gas mask fit tests to ensure adequate protection against weapons of mass destruction and nuclear, biological and chemical agents for war fighters. He also collects and analyzes water samples to ensure the water is potable and free from bacteriological and chemical contaminants and safe for consumption by everyone on base." - Master Sgt.
