The 31st Security Forces Squadron recently opened and dedicated their new building May 15 to Airman 2nd Class Jerry R. Moon. Airman Moon was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart for his service during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the 31st Air Police Squadron.

"This is one of the few buildings in the Air Force dedicated to an enlisted member," said Capt. Brian Quenette, 31st SFS deputy commander. "It's an honor for us to dedicate the building to an Airman who gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country."

The new squadron building offers many opportunities and savings to not only the unit, but to the Aviano team as well. For security forces Airmen who live in the dorms, they now only have to cross the street to get to the building.

The new building consolidates 10 buildings that were spread out across two areas into one facility. Nearly all security forces customer service functions are located in the building, to include the police services desk, reports and analysis, security clearances and combat arms training and maintenance.
