The post office has a problem; they can't deliver packages because the facility is too full.

The post office ran out of room because of the amount of people who are mailing footlockers and boxes from their deployed location and who are mailing things they will need for their PCS here.

Tech. Sgt. Jason Swift, 31st Communications Squadron assistant postmaster, said footlockers and boxes from people who are returning from deployment arrive every day. Right now most space available mail can't be delivered because there is no space on the shelves.

"Please put your mail on hold or forward it," Sergeant Swift said. "It takes a lot of time to track down the owner of the package to find out where that person is.
"As soon as you get back, check your mail and claim your packages."

To alleviate the abundance of packages, the post office annex is being used to make space in the main post office.

"Please be patient when picking up parcels," Sergeant Swift said. "We understand it can be confusing using the main post office and the annex to pick up packages. As soon as the annex overflow is empty, we'll return to using only the main post office for parcel pickup."

The Aviano post office parcel pickup window is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
