This week’s Wyvern Warrior of the Week is Arianna Lunardi, 31st Operational Medical Readiness Squadron health systems specialist. This Roveredo in Piano, Italy, native has been part of Wyvern Nation for seven years.

As part of her day-to-day routine, Lunardi drives the daily operations of the Integrated Disability Evaluations System as the liaison for all medical board evaluations. She ensures the timely submission of completed packages and relays findings to patients and commanders.

“When somebody is referred for a medical board, they come in and I see where they are and I brief them on the whole process and provide documentation and feedback,” said Lunardi. “As the process starts, I guide them through each phase because it  can be pretty lengthy.”

Furthermore, she identified miss-matched orders and resolved several administrative errors recapturing $18,000. She also trained 18 31st Fighter Wing Independent Duty Medial Technicians on Line of Duty determinations, ensuring Wyvern Nation members are fit to fight.

Lunardi’s personal motto is ‘adapt, improvise and overcome!’ and she claims her mentor to be Eleanor, a friend she met more than 20 years ago while she worked at the photo shop on base.

“One day when we started talking, I found out she loves wine like me,” said Lunardi. “I invited her to dinner with us one night and my friend loved her. And we became friends. She’s someone I admire the most. Even in her 80s, she is still hiking mountains!”

Lunardi said she loves the people she works with at the 31st Medical Group and does whatever she can to help anyone in need.

“I love my job and the people I work with,” said Lunardi. “My coworkers are all nice and great people.”

Although she’s faced hardships in her life, her positive outlook has helped her overcome those challenges.

“When the company that I worked for closed and I lost my job that I successfully performed for 20 years, I learned that this phrase is true: ‘When one door closes, another door opens,’” said Lunardi. “Throughout this hardship, I also learned the following: have hope, work hard, apply yourself, and you will overcome challenges.”
