The 31st Fighter Wing honors a different Wyvern each week for going above and beyond by either improving their career field, demonstrating excellence outside of work or impacting the Air Force as a whole. This weeks Wyvern Warrior of the Week is U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Kadijah Cole, 31st FW Judge Advocate, adverse actions noncommissioned officer in charge, originally from St. Catherine, Jamaica.
Cole is responsible for tracking all punitive paperwork and actions to include Article 15s, discharges and demotions. She ensures they are drafted, reviewed and completed in a timely manner and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, she works hand-in-hand with U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa, first sergeants and commanders to ensure they have all necessary information regarding cases.
“I am grateful to be able to assist in providing first-class legal advice to all commanders and first sergeants whenever something occurs,” said Cole. “I am also grateful afterwards when justice is properly administered. To me, it’s not about having guilty verdicts or convictions, but seeing how the process of the judicial system works after all the evidence has been displayed.”
While on call, Cole received news that required an immediate response. She swiftly took action and notified her justice team. She worked with the Office of Special Investigations and a team of first sergeants. Together, they were able to collectively ensure three Wyverns made it back to Aviano Air Base safely.
“Winning this award is such an honor,” said Cole. “When the incident initially happened, I simply sprang into action. I knew I had to notify all relevant parties and help forge a way forward.”
Being a military justice paralegal can be very time consuming, especially before a trial. Cole has found joy in helping others and working with her fellow paralegals.
“I’ve been able to work with amazing paralegals and attorneys with diverse backgrounds and experiences,” said Cole. “The biggest highlight in my career is my coworkers.”
