AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy -- Team Aviano can rest easy at night knowing there are 31st Fighter Wing Airmen ready to respond to any emergency 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The 31st Civil Engineer Squadron firefighters ensure the safety of Aviano members by responding to hazardous material leaks, aircraft and structural emergencies, car accidents and medical emergencies. Firefighters receive more than 13 weeks of technical school instruction before arriving at Aviano Air Base to begin on-the-job training, which can last more than a year.
