The La Dolce Vita dining facility team will reveal an updated serving line Nov. 27, which is part of a larger renovation process.

The changes aim to improve the building's aesthetic, food variety and space utilization.

"We didn't like the sterile look of our DFAC," said U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Lisa Lyons, 31st Force Support Squadron sustainment services flight superintendent. "Our focus is to make this somewhere people want to eat."

The updated serving line will exchange the aluminum and steelĀ for wood accents and softer features. Similar updates, such as new tables and chairs, are scheduled for early 2016.

In addition to the new look, the staff plans to release an additional seven entrees on top of the 14 currently rotating.

"Increasing our entree options keeps the DFAC fresh and new," said Tech. Sgt. Lizandra Taylor, 31st FSS La Dolce Vita DFAC manager. "We will also add items so customers have more freedom of choice with salads, snacks and extra items."

The staff has plans for even more updates, such as an improved kitchen, larger dining area and a covered patio.

"With new units scheduled to join Team Aviano, we need to continue our improvements," said Lyons.

These improvements and ideas are fueled by proper planning and the passion of the DFAC team.

"For a lot of dorm Airmen, this will be the first time away from home, let alone in a new country," said Taylor. "We owe them a facility that is homey where they can be comfortable and eat a nice, hot meal."

During these changes, Airmen will experience changes in DFAC hours and services. For more information, click here or call the DFAC at 632-8206.
