NDI Airmen find flaws, keep it together

AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy -- U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 31st Maintenance Squadron nondestructive inspection lab are responsible for the structural integrity of aircraft systems by detecting defects in F-16 Fighting Falcon parts and aerospace ground equipment. They use six different inspection procedures including x-ray, magnetic particle, eddy current, ultrasonics, liquid penetrant and oil analysis to determine if parts are broken. Aviano NDI Airmen conduct more than 300 inspections each month.
