AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy-- -- Airmen with the 31st Maintenance Squadron transient alert provide inflight emergency, air and ground service and departure assistance for transient aircraft. They recover and service more than 30 NATO, civilian and foreign aircraft per month that pass through Aviano. Additionally, these Airmen are responsible for tearing down, inspecting, repairing and reconstructing aircraft wheels and tires.
