The Airman and Family Readiness Center is the place to go when a Team Aviano member has questions about a permanent change of station, upcoming deployments or a retirement. Along with Service member's questions, the AFRC answers the questions spouses and families may have about employment or volunteerism.

The AFRC is responsible for ensuring military members, Department of Defense employees and their families are connected with appropriate services for assistance they may need.

"We pride ourselves on being the go-to facility on base for the majority of questions or concerns people may have," said Kim Heng, 31st Force Support Squadron casual and survivor benefits representative.  "The AFRC will always be here to support and assist Service members and their families with whatever life throws at them."

The AFRC creates a variety of programs for Team Aviano that can help balance the demands of the military and personal lives. Here are a few of the services that are offered:

- Falcon Loan: An available loan for $500 or less that can be used for emergency situations.
- Resume Writing 101: Teaches the fundamental components of resume and cover letters.
- Volunteer/Employment Orientation: Discusses volunteer opportunities and procedures at Aviano AB.
- Spouse It Up!: Allows spouses and children to meet other spouses and children, and enjoy a meal together.
- Money Workshop: Provides practical information and tools to help people reach financial stability.
- Phone Home: Allows deployed service members to receive a phone card to call home to family and friends.

"The AFRC is the 'one-stop' shop for Airmen and their families - it gives a variety of services to support Team Aviano," said Heng. "Whether you're separating or trying to progress within the ranks, it's always important for service members to continue building on their career."

All of the programs offered by the AFRC are free. From financial advice to deployment readiness, Service members can take advantage of the services to help maintain a healthy and positive lifestyle.

"People shouldn't be afraid to ask for help at the AFRC. They have plenty of classes that can help everyone for any situation needed," said Senior Airman Alan Geiss, 31st Force Support Squadron lead commander's support staff. "The experiences I've been taught at the AFRC have given me great confidence to pursue my plans."

The AFRC provides 15 to 20 classes per month and, according to Heng, individuals interested in a class can sign up the day prior. The center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information on services available or to schedule an appointment, call 632-5407.
