Team Aviano members honored 6 million Jews and millions of others who died during the Holocaust through Days of Remembrance week, April 27 through May 4, here.

The week brought members together during a showing of "Schindler's List," a candlelight vigil, a memorial six kilometer run and a trip to the concentration camp in Trieste, Italy.

Days of Remembrance week was established by the U.S. Congress as the annual commemoration of the Holocaust. Also, Congress established the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum as a permanent living memorial to the victims who died throughout World War II and during the reign of the Nazi Party. Since 1982, the museum has led the Day of Remembrance ceremony in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda with Holocaust survivors, liberators, members of Congress, White House officials, the diplomatic corps and community leaders in attendance.

The years theme was "Confronting the Holocaust: American Responses." For more information on future Days of Remembrance, click here.
