Throughout U.S. Air Forces in Europe Air Forces Africa, education centers are updating their sign-up process for credit-by-examination tests to make getting college credits more accessible for service members.

Those wanting to schedule a college level examination program no longer need to call the education center to make an appointment. Individuals now have access to the University of Maryland University College Europe's National Test Center's online reservation system to schedule future tests, no matter what school they attend.

"Mostly everything now-a-days is internet based, so this allows everyone to access their records easily and quickly," said Letizia Norwood, National Test Center administrator.

This centralized system allows individuals to see previous tests taken, order transcripts for other schools and purchase study material.

"The website also allows the NTC employees to see peoples' records," said Norwood. "Before this, we would have to wait until we received a letter in the mail to see what people have taken and that wasted a lot of time."

First-time users will need to create an account to schedule, view or edit a reservation.
After logging in, users can click on the "make a reservation" tab and select their location by scrolling over the blue arrow next to "choose a location" to see available dates and times for their local testing center. Once a time and date are selected, applicants click the available box, choose the examination they wish to take and submit.

If for any reason a CLEP must be cancelled, call the education center and they will cancel it without making the individual pay for the missed appointment. Test cancellations can be made up to the time of the exam.

Additionally, education seekers will notice student no longer have to answer the questionnaire before taking the exam. Now, the questions will be asked after scheduling the CLEP.

"Change is inevitable, but it's a good thing," explained Norwood. "Once people understand how to use the system, it will speed the process up and benefit everyone in the long run."

Aviano's Education Center is the second in USAFE to implement the change, test takers are seeing improvements in audio clarity, higher resolution on images and a calculator display. All USAFE Education Centers are expected to be upgraded to the new system by February.

"The new system is very convenient and user friendly," said Staff Sgt. Demetrius Davis, CLEP user. "This avoids the middle man phone call and I can sign up myself. The best part is when I get the calendar invite once I've created the reservation."
