Press Release: 31st FW Airman pronounced dead Published Sept. 19, 2016 By 31st Fighter Wing Public Affairs 31st Fighter Wing Public Affairs AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy -- At approximately 5 a.m. on Sept. 18, 2016, Airman 1st Class Alfred Komlev was found unresponsive in his dormitory room on Aviano Air Base, Italy.Komlev was transported to the Pordenone Hospital in Pordenone, Italy where he was pronounced dead. The cause of his death is under investigation.“I’d like to express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Airman Komlev,” said Brig. Gen. Lance Landrum, 31st Fighter Wing commander. “Our thoughts, prayers and support go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.”Komlev was assigned to the 31st Fighter Wing at Aviano Air Base, Italy as a member of the 31st Security Forces Squadron.We are supporting the Italian officials as they continue their investigation.
