RUFIT PHYSICAL RESILIENCY TOOLS Air Force Services Fitness & Sports Health Promotion The Aviano Health Promotion Flight (formerly known as the Health & Wellness Center or HAWC) offers programs that help individuals and squadrons better understand lifestyle decisions which can lead to healthier lifestyles. Our classes range from nutritional counseling and tobacco cessation to running form motion analysis. For nutrition there are a variety of choices from Be Well Nutrition to Nutrition 101(our basic nutritional skills course). There are also specialty nutrition classes to help with the control/prevention of high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol levels and Diabetes. Individuals can self-refer or be referred by a provider. Classes are available in various formats: a) the Health Promotion classroom or b) offered at your Squadron or Flight levels. Follow-up meetings are offered every 2 to 4 weeks and focus on learning how to overcome challenges/temptations at a personalized level. Running Clinic Our Running clinic is open to all individuals. This class is designed to assist attendees with; a) designing a personalized running program, b) learning injury prevention techniques, c) video analysis of ones running form and, d) discussing running shoes types and potential benefits/harms. Nutritional Education Be Well Nutrition: The Be Well Nutrition class focuses on helping those members who failed to meet their AF fitness assessment standards. This class will cover concepts on how to eat for performance and how to better manage ones weight through sound dietary intake guidelines. Deceasing excess bodyfat levels can result in faster run times, better taping results and the accomplishment of more repetitions on the muscle fitness components. The class will discuss healthy eating behaviors, common dietary myths and misconceptions about weight loss, and concepts on how to properly balance ones dietary intake. Healthy Eating/Nutrition 101: This course will discuss healthy eating behaviors, common dietary myths and misconceptions about weight loss/management, and offer guidelines on how to properly balance your dietary intake levels. Dietary Approaches for High Blood Pressure: This course is designed to help participants better understand dietary approaches to prevent or help control high blood pressu(hypertension). The program can assists individuals in designing an eating program to reduce the amount of sodium consumed through their eating. Exercise recommendations for those with hypertension will also be outlined in this course. Dietary Approaches for Cholesterol Reduction: This course is designed to help participants better understand dietary approaches to reducing their cholesterol levels. Individuals will learn key concepts on how to incorporate evidence based dietary programs into their daily lives. Exercise recommendations for attendees will also be outlined during this class. Dietary Approaches for Diabetes: This course is designed to help participants understand how to effectively modify their diets to optimally control blood sugar levels through the incorporation of evidence based dietary programs. Exercise recommendations for attendees will also be outlined during this class.
