Local Legend: Ms. Angela Cocconi

This week, we highlight #LocalLegend Ms. Angela Cocconi. Angela is the 31st Mission Support Group secretary and has worked at Aviano since 2000. She lives in Gemona with her husband, daughter, and the family cat. Her recommendation for sightseeing in Italy is to visit the small towns and leave the big cities behind. "That's where you get the true Italian lifestyle and true people." Her favorite Italian food from childhood is Frico; a cheese and potato dish that is both soft and crunchy! Local Legend: Stefano De Bortoli

This week we highlight a #LocalLegend who helps Team Aviano members build new skills. Mr. Stefano De Bortoli is the Wood Hobby Shop Manager and has worked for 31 FSS for 15 years. His favorite part of the job is passing his years of wood working knowledge to the airmen, from every background, who walk through his doors to develop those important self-help skills. Of course, he hopes to use his own wood working skills to build himself a boat he can some day sail away on! Grazie Stefano for all you do for the team!

Local Legend: Cristina Polese

This week, we highlight a #Locallegend whose friendly smile welcomes every new Team Aviano member. Ms. Cristina Polese is the Intercultural Relations & Benvenuti Program Manager at the 31 FSS, A&FRC. People will recognize her from the weekly Newcomer’s Orientation class, the Friday Benvenuti tour, and the monthly Basic Italian class. She also assists families enroll their children at the various Italian Schools around the community. Cristina loves, “Meeting and getting to know every single Aviano newcomer, regardless of rank. I enjoy helping them and his/her family get settled into a new environment.” The Air Force has a special place in her heart. She met her husband while working for the Air Force. Grazie Cristina for all you do for the team!

Roberto Murador has worked on Aviano AB for 32 years... longer than most junior enlisted Airmen have been alive! In his job as head chef a the Italian Mensa, he relishes the chance to be creative with his meals. Murador hails from Fontanafredda, where his favorite childhood treat was gelato. It makes sense, because he helps keep Team Aviano well-fed, which makes life here that much sweeter!
