AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy -- After more than a year, the Single Airman's Initiative has returned to Team Aviano to offer exclusive deals on popular trips and activities.

The program provides single Airmen of all ranks discounted prices on trips and events offered by various 31st Force Support Squadron offices such as Outdoor Recreation and Information, Ticket and Travel.

"It's designed for single Airmen in our community, which could be anyone who is unmarried or who is on temporary duty status without their spouse here," said Cheryl Dollard, 31st FSS Community Center director. "We want to help get people out of their house or dorm and have some fun."

Recently, ITT released its March and April schedule to destinations throughout Europe. The trips are one- to three-day visits that range from $25 to $100 at a discounted rate of 30 to 80 percent off.

"The best thing I can recommend is to visit or call the facilities and ask what the trips are because it changes every month," said Dollard.

Airmen can choose between five to 10 trips that occur every month. These trips can include destinations such as Rome, Paris, Verona, Switzerland, Croatia, Munich, Milan and Florence.

"It's cheap, that's the main reason Airmen should take advantage of this program," said Megan Pennington, 31st FSS ITT assistant manager. "There is no telling how long this program will last. Airmen get to travel and save money, it sounds good to me."

Airmen interested in taking advantage of the program, should know that seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not accepted without payment, which must be made in-person when the trip is booked.

"I have already booked a couple of trips using the Single Airman's Initiative, and it was really easy and affordable," said Senior Airman Matthew Damore, 31st Comptroller Squadron cashier finance technician. "I am excited that the program is back and I now have a way to travel without spending an excessive amount of money."

When traveling anywhere with ITT, proper identification is recommended, but for trips out of the country, passports are required.

"We're focusing on offering more day trips, but Airmen should also keep an eye out for on-base activities going on at the community center or bowling center as well," said Dollard. "It's going on throughout the summer, so take advantage while you can."
