The 31st Operations Group welcomed its new commander during a change of command ceremony July 7 here.

Col. David Walker took the reigns from Col. Patrick Miller, who relinquished command after more than two years of service of the 31st OG.

"My goal and vision for the 31st OG is to continue to provide the most combat mission-ready Airmen in order to support the wing's mission to deliver combat power and support across the globe to achieve U.S. and NATO objectives," said Walker.

The new commander's priorities for the 31st OG are to maintain the razor-sharp focus the group has on the mission, ensure Airmen are properly trained, ready and resourced for the assigned tasks and ensure outstanding support for the families.

"The accomplishments of this group over the last year are amazing," Walker said. "From combat operations to higher headquarter inspections, this group has demonstrated the highest possible dedication to our mission and to supporting each other. I am humbled and honored to now be a part of this fantastic team."

Prior to his current assignment, Walker was a student of the Air War College in Alabama. Meanwhile, Miller heads to Yokota Air Base, Japan.
