  • MQ-9s execute new mission in Romania

    The U.S. Air Force recently deployed MQ-9 Reaper aircraft and approximately 90 Airmen at the 71st Air Base in Campia Turzii, Romania, to conduct intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions in support of NATO operations.

    The early morning was still as clouds covered the dark skies. Frost grew over the ground; it was the type of cold that reached into the bones. The only thing they could do was keep moving. A few Airmen forced their breath into their hands and rubbed them together for just a few seconds of heat. 

  • U.S. and Romanian air forces cement alliance

    U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Jason Bailey, the 31st Fighter Wing Commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Jamie Newman, the 31st FW Command Chief, visited Campia Turzii, Romania, Feb. 3-4, to meet with Romanian air force leadership and key defense leaders in the region.

  • Fueling the Farm

    U.S. Airmen deployed here worked alongside their Romanian civil engineer counterparts to establish a diesel fuel farm, using fuels mobility support equipment in order to support various base operations.
